Obituary

David Marshall McKinney 70, son of Joseph Marshall McKinney and Mattie Bell Sartor passed away peacefully in Campbell Texas on Sunday May 2, 2021. He left this world surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. He is beloved by family, friends and anyone who had an opportunity to know him and experience his humor and his heart.

Born March 14, 1951 in Shreveport, Louisiana, moved to Campbell in 2000 to pursue his lifelong dream of ranching and living off the land. Mr. McKinney was a man of many talents and a true entrepreneur. He was a teacher, coach, business owner and a builder of many things but his greatest passions were for hunting, fishing and most of all work, a testament to which is preserved in his lineage and memory. He was an avid reader and writer with a wit that could cascade like a waterfall or pierce like a sword. One of a kind, with a humor that can only be described as original. He traveled the world and settled on Nogotloti, his paradise and home.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife of 50 years Carolyn McKinney, mother Mattie McKinney of Liberty, TX, brother Michael McKinney and wife Cindy of Katy, TX, sister Lanelda Vansau of Liberty, TX, daughter Teri Miller and her husband Leon Miller of Campbell, TX, son Jacob McKinney and his wife Jodi Gajdos-McKinney also of Campbell, and daughter Rachel McKinney of Commerce, TX. Mr. McKinney was also “PawPaw,” to seven wonderful grandchildren, grandsons Harlan Bailey Weaver and Al Monday Jackson of Oklahoma City and David Aiden Crowder of Commerce, TX , granddaughters Payton Elizabeth Miller, Luna Bella-Gajdos-Lawrence, Alena Maria Gajdos-McKinney and Magnolia Sparrow Gajdos-McKinney all of Campbell, TX. David was preceded in death by his father Joseph Marshall McKinney, brother Joseph Wayne McKinney and sister Carolyn Lawane McKinney.

“At a time when the world seems to be spinning
Hopelessly out of control
There's deceivers, and believers, and old in-betweeners
That seem to have no place to go

Well, it's the same old song, it's right and it's wrong
And living is just something that I do
And with no place to hide, I looked in your eyes
And I found myself in you

A memorial service will be held in the Jones-Walker Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Shawn Bronson officiating.
