Thomas Jefferson Williams III, 82, a devoted family man and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025, in Campbell, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on December 3, 1942, in Winnfield, Louisiana, Thomas, affectionately known as Tom, led a life marked by faith, love, and service.
Tom spent his early years moving frequently du\e to his father's work on the railroad, yet he always cherished his Southern roots, particularly enjoying weekends in Louisiana. He graduated from high school in Caddo Mills, Texas in 1960, a year that also marked the beginning of his lifelong career in government service. Over 52 years, Tom's commitment to his work and his country was unwavering, exemplified by his service in the Vietnam War, where he completed two tours from 1968 to 1971.
Tom's greatest pride and joy were his family. He was a hero not only to his country but also to his four sons and three daughters. Hos boundless love and devotion to his family were matched by his dedication to his country. Tom was an expert in his field, an incredible father, and loving husband to Maureen, his cherished wife of 42 years, with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.
Tom's legacy is carried on by his wife, Maureen, his siblings Emma Shaw, Joe, and Beverly Williams, and his children: Gary Williams, Brady WIlliams and wife Deanna, Johnny Long and wife Sue Tan, Kimberly Metric, Helen Freeman, Jeanette Louise, and Thomas Jefferson WIlliams IV. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff Williams Sr. and Helen Pauline, and his brother Simion and wife Ruth Williams.
A man of deep faith, Tom believed in the importance of family and spirituality. His life's philosophy was encapsulated in his four secrets of success: Love Jesus, Be happy, Tell the truth, and Work hard. These principles guided him throughout his life and left an indelible mark on thoise who knew him.
As we gather to celebrate Tom's life, we are reminded of the immense love he had for his family and his faith. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit and teachings remain with us. Tom will forever be loved and never forgotten, leaving behind a legacy of love, truth, and hard work that will continue to inspire generations to com.
A visitation will be held at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Commerce on Saturday, May 10, 2025 beginning at 1:00 P.M.
