Thelma Smith

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with a voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first."

1 Thessalonians 4:13-16Thelma Smith, 93, of Honey Grove went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on March 9, 2017, in Bonham. Thelma was born on February 6, 1924 in Clarksville, TX to Lucille Griffin Jones and Henderson Jones.

Left to cherish her memories are her son; Joseph Smith (Susan) of Wichita Falls; daughters: Jackie Ausbie of Ft. Worth and Debra Browner (Frank) of Ladonia; grandchildren: Debora Martin (Dwight), Billy Holloway Jr., Undria Dixon (Leigh), Rafeal Browner, Joseph Smith III (Gabby), Cedric Smith (Valerie), Latina Smith and Diana Smith; 30 great grandchildren; and, 1 great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister, Hettie Roberts of Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Gary Smith and Billy Holloway; Infant daughter Nola; grandson Donald Morgan Jr; sisters: Marie Cobb, Dorothy Johnson and Josie Reed; brothers Melvin Jones and Eddie Lewis.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 17, 2017, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church (700 East Scott Street) in Honey Grove.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ in Roxton, TX.

Interment will follow at Rocky Ford Cemetery in Roxton, TX.

Interment service follows church service.
