Shawn Carlos Villarreal

Shawn Carlos Villarreal, 54, of Cooper passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Christus Mother Francis Hospital in Sulphur Springs.  He was born on July 29, 1972, in Greenville, TX to Raymond Villarreal and Margie Foster Villarreal.  He was employed by Trees of Delta.

Shawn “Bubba” Villarreal was a kind-hearted man who never hesitated to help those around him. He loved his family, a cold beer, and a warm joint, but most of all, he loved people. From family and lifelong friends to complete strangers, there wasn’t a soul he wouldn’t acknowledge or lend a helping hand to. Bubba had a way of making people feel seen and welcomed, no matter who they were. Not a day went by that he didn’t have a smile on his face or a way of bringing one to someone else’s. His kindness, generosity, and unmistakable spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. 

He is survived by his son Zachary Villarreal and girlfriend Laramie Rogers; brothers: Jake Villarreal, Anthony “Pook” Villarreal and Wife Casey Villarreal and Joseph Villarreal and Fiancé Miranda Olivarez; nieces Sierra Villarreal and Fiancé Rylie “Festus” Stinson, Kyliee Villarreal, Kaelynn Norris and Isabella Elam; nephews Gavin Bulin and Xaviear Elam.  He is also survived by his aunt Michelle Belz and her boyfriend Gaylon Roseberry; cousins Dustin Moore, Cody Moore, Patrick Belz and CJ Belz and a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins. 

 Shawn's beloved dog whom he loved, Susie, survives as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Margie Villarreal, grandparents Thelma Foster and Odell Foster and his aunt Lisa Moore.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce.
