Sammye Kay Bush

Sammye Kay Bush, 79, a lifelong resident, of Ladonia, Tx. passed away at her residence surrounded by family on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was born in Commerce, Tx. on August 20, 1946, the daughter of Sammie Wilson Bryant and Martha Edna Leeman Bryant. Sammye Kay was an administrative secretary for the Fannindel Elementary School and also worked as a beautician. She married Samuel Lynn Bush on August 15, 1980 .Kay was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Ladonia, where she enjoyed volunteering to help with their annual Lord's Acre. Her favorite preacher was Jesse Duplantis. She was also a member of the local Booster Club and the Rodeo Association. She would often be found either cooking hamburgers or taking money at the gate for the rodeos. Kay was also an active volunteer for various school events and especially enjoyed cooking for the teachers and staff. Other pastimes that kept her busy included making crafts, antique shopping, and going to see her grandkids and great grandkids play sports. She considered her greatest blessing to be that of being called "Nana".

Those that remain to cherish her memory include 5 daughters: Discha Threlkeld and husband Billy Joe of Ladonia, Triena Duncan and husband Mickey of Ladonia, Samantha Beggs and husband Danny of Blossom, Janet Bush of Posey and Tammy Holder and husband James also of Posey. Her legacy also includes grandchildren: BJ Threlkeld and wife Tyler, Delisha Threlkeld and husband Cody, Steven Beggs, Ami Duncan and husband Johnny, and Micah Duncan.  Six greatgrandsons: Devin, Hayes, Oliver, Zarrian, Cory and Chevy and Seven great granddaughters: Jessa, Hatley, Johnsie, Jolee, Jayde, Remi and Carley. Other survivors include her sister Sue Burnett of Ladonia and special friends, Laurel Lane and Stephanie Oros. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Bush, parents, Sammie and Martha Bryant, granddaughter Jessica Threlkeld and a sister, Martha Shelby.

The family will receive friends for a visitation in the chapel of the Jones-Walker Funeral Home, Tuesday night, October 14, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services for Mrs. Bush will be held Wednesday October 15, 2025 at 3:30 p.m. in Ladonia, Tx. at the First United Methodist Church, with Bro. Curtis Mathis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ladonia Cemetery with BJ Threlkeld, Micah Duncan, Cody Wiggins, Johnny Pairsh Jr.,Devin Hinkle, Steven Beggs and Hayes Duncan serving as pallbearers.
