Ruby Nell Person

Ruby Nell Person, 79, of Honey Grove passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009, in Bonham.

She was born July 24, 1930, in Honey Grove, Texas, to James McNeal and Gladys Finney. Ruby attended Bralley-Pendleton High School and became a member of 16th Street Baptist Church at a very young age. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Cemetery Association and she was an employee of Texas Industries.

Ruby united in Holy Matrimony with O..C. Person in 1961, united their children from previous marriages. Ruby loved people and she loved her family; her house was the place to go for tea cakes and a jar of plumb jelly. Ruby retired from TI and decided to become a part of the Christian Chapel family and was very happy going to church with her daughter until her health failed.

Survivors include her sons: Willard Adkins of Teague and Bobbie Person of Dallas; her daughter, Doris Chaffin of Dallas; her sisters: Jaunita Moore and Ruthie Brigham both of Honey Grove; her aunt, Tallie Roberts of San Bernardino, California. Other survivors include a devoted grandson Kurt Burks, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O. C. Person; her son, Artie Adkins; her daughter, Betty Burks; and her brother, Artie McNeal.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at the Christian Chapel CME Church in Honey Grove with Rev. Esther Faye Lawson officiating.

Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Honey Grove, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Shaw, Stacy Woods, Willie Shaw, Brent Johnson, Jessie McKinney and Norman Rose.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kurt Burks, Robert Jackson, Dennis Finney, and Kenneth Chaffin.
