Richard Allen Norton, a dedicated Funeral Director and beloved elementary school teacher, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at Medical City Plano, Texas. Born on June 7, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Richard's life was marked by service, commitment, and a deep connection to his community.

With a career spanning over fifty years as a Funeral Director, Richard earned profound respect and admiration from those he served and worked alongside. One of his proudest achievements was receiving a pin commemorating his half-century dedication to this noble profession, a testament to his unwavering devotion and compassionate care. Alongside this vocation, he also shared his knowledge and kindness as an elementary school teacher, touching the lives of countless young students.

Richard's involvement extended beyond his professional life. A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce, Texas, he was an active participant in his faith community. His passions included being a Life Member of the American Amateur Radio Relay and the VHF-FM Society. He further contributed through his Rotary Club membership and advocacy as a member of the Texas Federation of Teachers, reflecting his lifelong commitment to communication, education, and service.

He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Kari Anne Norton Awalt and Brent Awalt; his son, Christopher Allen Norton and daughter in law, Vanessa Norton; and his cherished grandchildren, Hailey Awalt and Charlotte Awalt, and Afton Norton who brought great joy to his life. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence A. Norton and Helen D. Faris Norton.

Richard Allen Norton's legacy is defined not only by his professional accomplishments but also by his dedication to his family, faith, and community. His gentle spirit, steadfast friendship, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be held in the Jones-Walker Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 with Bro.Terry Bryan officiating.
