Oliver R. "Buddy" McClendon, 69, of Commerce passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, in Commerce.

"Buddy" was born in Greenville on May 13, 1944, to J.O Terrell McClendon and Beulah Hope Daniels McClendon. In Oklahoma on December 1961, he married his beautiful bride, Virginia; and, they enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. Back in his younger days, Oliver was a stock car racer (#00). He loved fast cars, billiards, bowling, and and occasional diversion to the local Casino. "Buddy" was a heavy equipment parts salesman for over 50 years. His integrity and sharp wit endeared him to his customers, friends and family alike.

Oliver was a true family man and a true friend to all. He will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia McClendon of Commerce; his son, Terry McClendon of Commerce; his two daughters: Rita (McClendon) Havens and her husband Nick of Austin and Cathy (McClendon) Bramhall and her husband Rodney of Irving; his grandchildren: Chris, Daniel and Samantha Bramhall and Clarice, Olivia and Aidan Havens; his great grandson, Devan Bramhall; his brother, Charles Don McClendon; and, his sister, Wanda Decker and her husband Joe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 27, 2013, at 12:00 P.M. at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013, from 6:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Wooten Sr., Donnie Wooten Sr., Donnie Wooten, Ronnie Wooten, Kenny Turner and Doug Tatman.

His Honorary Pallbearer will be Jackie Brewer.
