Michael Earl Thomas

Michael Earl Thomas, 70, of Mesquite passed away on Saturday August 21, 2021 in Dallas.

Michael Earl Thomas was born in Dallas, Texas September 10, 1950 to Margaret West Thomas and Earl Harvey Thomas. Mike graduated from Irving Nimitz High School in 1969. Mike ran track, was tall and thin and good looking! Mike served in the U.S. Coast Guard after graduating from high school.

Mike found the Local Church in the 70’s and enjoyed the life and teaching of the Church very much! Mike fit well in the Local Church and was involved in Church life and walking with other saints enjoying the Lord together.

Mike met and married Ann Warren in the Church and together they had a son Tim. Mike worked as a painter at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas for many years. Sadly, Mike and Ann divorced and eventually Mike and Tim lived together with Margaret and Earl, Mike's parents for a time.

Mike met and Married Sandra Colbert, they and Tim lived together in the Greenville area for many years, later they had a beautiful baby girl named Brandy Kay Thomas. Sadly again Mike and Sandra also divorced, and Brandy lived with her mother. Mike loved Brandy and worked very hard with Lina to stay in touch and involved in her life.

Through mutual friends Mike met Lina Manliguis, this September they would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary! Lina and Mike enjoyed a meaningful and happy life together. They both loved Mike’s children and grandchildren dearly. Mike and Lina loved to give gifts and more than half the grandkids' clothes have come from Lina “Lula''. Lina has been a wonderful, patient and kind wife to Mike and she loved him to the very end.

Mike will be remembered as an honest, gentle and loving man, you knew what you were getting in Mike. He was not afraid to say “I’m sorry” or “I love you”. He said both often and sincerely. Mike wanted to be in right relationship with God and others. Mike was unashamed of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. He would ask anyone to pray with him and call upon the name of the Lord with him! His favorite thing to say was “Lord Jesus!”

Mike loved to laugh, do impersonations, visit the country, and tell funny stories to the grandkids, and he loved his Church brothers and sisters in Christ. He loved to call people on the phone and talk and pray. Mike had a simple and beautiful sense of humor! Mike loved to give gifts, he simply had to give you something if he saw you!

Mike entered the presence of the Triune God on August 21, 2021. Mike aka “Mikey” was survived by his wife Lina, his son Tim Thomas, his wife Emily and their four children: Harrison, Violet, Maggie, and Jubilee, his daughter Brandy Thomas and her son Maverick Allen, his brother- in-law Randy Harrsion and stepfather Gerald Thurman. Mike also had many extended family members who he loved dearly. Mike was preceded in death by his father Earl Thomas, his mother Margaret West Thomas Thurman and sister Jan Thomas Harrsion.

Mike will be dearly missed, but God’s timing can be trusted and Mike will be seen again enjoying the presence of the Lord together with all who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in faith to be saved forever.

A graveside service to honor Mike will be held Tuesday August 24th at 10am at Shiloh Cemetery in Klondike, Texas. All friends and family are invited.

Romans 10: 8-10

“But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
