Lowell McDowell Robinson

Mr. Lowell Robinson, 91, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Oak Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Commerce, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Cumby, Texas.

Lowell was born to L. M. Robinson and Flora Elizabeth McDowell Robinson in Cumby, Texas, on May 6, 1923.

Mr. Robinson graduated from East Texas State University in 1947 with a Bachelor's of Arts with a major in English and double minors in Music and Spanish. He utilized his degree at Miller Grove Independent School District where he taught Literature at the High School for several years. He later joined the United States Army and worked as a librarian at Fort Sam Houston.

Lowell was a member of the Cumby Methodist Church.

Mr. Robinson's hobbies included gardening, reading and listening to classical music.

Survivors include his nephews: Lynn Robinson and his wife Lorraine and Tommy Robinson and his wife Mary of Sulphur Springs; his great-nephew, Heath McDowell Robinson also of Sulphur Springs; his cousin, Toby McDowell Harty of Yantis and several great-cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Loyd Robinson.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be conducted on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Cumby City Cemetery in Cumby with Bro. Steve Knox officiating.

Visitation will be conducted on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce.
