Jeanene Dale Huffman

Jeanene Huffman, 75, of Henderson, TX and formerly of Commerce, passed away Saturday evening November 21, 2020 at her residence.

Jeanene was born in Tarrant County on June 4, 1945 to Melvin and Lillian Longley.  She married Gerry Huffman on May 20, 1962, he preceded her in death in 2012 after 50 years of living life together.

"Nene" was known for her love of horses and going on trail rides and all of the activities that go along with them. She was renowned for her chicken fried steaks and gravy that she cooked up for all who participated in these trail rides.  Being a true country girl at heart, she also loved baling hay. She will be remembered as being a good friend that enjoyed pulling  practical jokes on her friends, and her notorious "evil eye" that you would be sure to avoid if at all possible. Jeanene was also an amazing seamstress that made clothes for her kids and dresses for her sisters as well. Her friends described her a being a "spitfire" with a stubborn streak.

Survivors include her son Gerry D. Huffman and wife Lisa; niece, Monica Benson and husband Brian, granddaughters Ciji McElyea and husband Brian, Callie Himlin and husband Will, great grandchildren Briley and Bentley McElyea and Zach and Lily Himlin.  She also is survived by many nieces and nephews and special longtime friends Les and Raelynn Arquette.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Gerry, a brother Melvin (Butch) Longley, and a sister Rebecca Sparks.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 12:00 P.M. at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce, TX with Bro. Terry Bryan officiating.

Face coverings and social distancing will be observed.
