James Daniel Miller

James Daniel Miller, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Medical Center of Plano.

James was born in Cooper, Texas, on December 20, 1935, to Lucille Gregg and Joe Miller. He retired from Hopkins County Memorial Hospital as a porter. James was a United States Army veteran serving in the National Guard. James battled bladder cancer for 2 years.

Survivors include his sons: Odis (Mary) Miller and Ricky Smith; his daughter, Zogail (Steven) Smith; his grandchildren: Holley Arce and Jeremy Fitzpatrick; and, his great-grandchildren: Rebecca Arce, Isaac Arce, Brooklyn Fitzpatrick and Tyler Fitzpatrick. James is also survived by his two sisters: Betty Slakey and Susan Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Mae Miller; his parents; and, his sister, Clara McKenzie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Fenton and Bro. Chad Barnes officiating.

Interment will follow at Rattan Cemetery of Delta County.
