Doyle "Lefty" Branom

Doyle Joe Branom, a.k.a. "Lefty" or "D.J.", of Commerce passed away on July 20, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Dallas.

"Lefty" was born on June 13, 1929 to Joe Green and Bertha Mae Coke Branom in Emblem, TX. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Ionia Yvonne Leatherwood on June 27, 1959 in Garland and worked as a welder for most of his life. He spent most of his spare time working in his gardens.

"Lefty" is survived by his two daughters Dawn Branom and spouse, John Dorrough of Commerce and Dixie Gordon and spouse, Jeff of Paris; his grandchildren: Lisa Baker, Joshua Lowrie, and Geoffrey Dorrough; and his great-grandchildren: Autumn Price and the twins: Dani and Dakota Baker.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ionia L. Branom; an infant son, Jonathan Britton Branom; his parents; a brother, Leonard Branom; and three sisters: Mary Lou Holland, June Garland, and Jane Ritter.

Services will be held at Jones-Walker & Son Chapel on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Terry Bryan officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Military Honors.

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Jones-Walker & Son from 4:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m.
