Douglas Everett Bitner, 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2009. He was born to Bryant Houston Bitner and Zuma Corrine Wills on February 21, 1933, in Lovelady, Texas where he grew up and graduated from the Lovelady High School. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and farming.

He went to work for Temco Aircraft Corp. of Dallas in 1952 until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and served until 1956. He returned to Temco after the completion of his military duty and remained there until 1968 and was then transferred to the Greenville, Texas division in 1968 were he retired from Raytheon in 1991 which is now known as L3.

He is preceded by two sisters Juanita Rollo and Dorothy Simpson and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lillie, his sons; Michael Bitner and wife Sharon, Gary Bitner and wife Deniece, Darrell Bitner, and Glen Bitner all of Campbell, Texas. Several grandchildren; Jeremy Bitner of Cumby, Texas, Blake Bitner of Greenville, Texas, and Hayley Bitner of Sulphur Springs, Texas, a great-grandson Brannon Bitner of Greenville, Texas, and his brother Gene Bitner and wife Betty of Lovelady, Texas, and his two sisters Billie Looker of Grapeland, Texas, and Mary Mayes of Pasadena, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home and the graveside service will be on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Centerhill Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.
