Dorothy Lee Thomas

Dorothy Lee Thomas, 99, of Commerce, formerly of Sherman, passed away on Thursday July 6, 2023 at her residence.  Dorothy was born on November 24, 1923 in Garvin, Oklahoma to Samuel B. Holman and Callie Elizabeth Mayor.  She was married to John W. Thomas who preceded her in death in 1991.  Dorothy was a long-time member of Forrest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman, TX.

Dorothy was a seamstress at Pool Manufacturing.  She also worked for Sherman ISD as a school cafeteria worker.  She was an avid quilt maker, avid gardener with roses being her favorite.

She is survived by three sons: Johnny Thomas and wife Terry of Chandler, Arizona, Ronny Thomas and wife Lilia of Lemoore, California and Donny Thomas and wife Angie of Commerce, Texas.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Beverly Hatten, granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth, daughter-in-law Cheryl Thomas and brothers: Delbert Holman and Jack Holman.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 12 noon until 1:15 P.M. at JOnes-Walker & Son Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, TX.

Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Thomas, Ronny Thomas, Donny Thomas, Jimmy Thomas, Timothy Thomas, Steve Taylor, Paul Pacheco, Brandon Thomas, Bentley Thomas and Wesley Thomas.
