Dorothy Marie Wood Moore, 88, of Dallas passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013, in Dallas.

Dorothy was born October 23, 1924, to Eliza May Webb Wood and Elbert Wood in rural Nolan County, Texas. On July 7, 1946, she married Kenneth E. Moore in Commerce. She was a graduate of East Texas Teachers College (now Texas A&M University - Commerce) and taught Texas History at Lake Jackson Junior High School until her retirement in 1980. She was a member emeritus with The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Dorothy worked not only with her family ancestry but also assisted others with research into their ancestry in the Hunt County area. She was very proud of her family's Texas heritage.

Survivors include her daughters: Kathy Moore Thompson and husband Terry of Sulphur Springs and Patti Moore Poe and husband Sammie of Montague; her brother, William "Bill" R. Wood of Henrietta; her grandchildren: Kenneth Thompson, Troy Thompson, Angela Short and Keith Poe; her great-grandchildren: Kaitlin Thompson, Grayson Thompson, Maylie Short, Jakob Thompson, Kyleigh Thompson, Kenzie Short, Emma Thompson and Boss Poe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Willard Wood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Thompson, Troy Thompson, Keith Poe, Brad Short, Grayson Thompson, Jakob Thompson and Boss Poe.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home chapel with Mr. David Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce.

The family requests, that in lieu of usual remembrances, a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
