Debrena Lashell Gaffney

Debrena Gaffney, 50, of Honey Grove, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Plano, TX.

Brena was born in Honey Grove on October 29, 1965, to J. W. and Opal McGee. She was a graduate of Honey Grove High School in 1984. She worked at Lamar County Meals on Wheels.

Having accepted Christ at an early age, she worked faithfully on the Usher Board at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Carter Temple and Christian Chapel CME where she was a member.

She will be remembered for her loving spirit and fellowship with friends and family; but, most of all, she will be remembered for her contagious smile. Her memory will live on with her generous gift of love as an organ donor which was in remembrance of her mother, Opal McGee who was a kidney transplant recipient.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Walter Earl McGee.

Survivors include her fiancé, Greg Anderson; her son, Colton Maxwell; her step-son, Greg Anderson, Jr; her daughter, Jessica Brigham; her sisters and brothers: Eddie McGee, Jacqueline McGee, Gerry McGee (Graciela), Jerry McGee, Delores Patt (Roy), and Carolyn Stevenson-Harper; and, her grandchildren: Ze'Zay Maxwell and Skylar Woods.

Services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 12:00 P.M. at Christian Chapel CME in Honey Grove with Rev. Esther Lawson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Audryan McGee, Patrick Lyons, Kenneth Beaucham, Eugene Brown, Kim Finney and Arthur Finney.

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Honey Grove.

Interment service follows church service.
