David Wayne Finch Sr. was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 14, 1959, and passed away peacefully in Tyler, Texas, on July 19, 2026, at the age of 66. His journey through life was marked by unwavering individuality, steadfast values, and a love for adventure.

 He was the beloved son of Florence Sue Ragland Finch, who survives him, and the late Jerry Wayne Finch. David's family provided the foundation for his unique spirit—a spirit always eager to embrace new experiences and challenges.

David pursued some college studies, a reflection of his curiosity and desire to better himself, though he carved out his path through self-reliance and hands-on experience. He spent time as a reserve police officer, offering his service and integrity to his community—a testament to his sense of duty and strong moral compass.

To those who had the pleasure of knowing David, he will always be remembered as the fun uncle—one who could fill any room with laughter, often by recounting stories of his own escapades (no matter how many times you’d heard them). His wit and charisma were matched only by his keen ability to communicate without ever uttering a word; a knowing glance from David could speak volumes.

Family gatherings meant the world to David. He especially cherished the tradition of playing horseshoes at Finch gatherings, using the occasion to strengthen family ties and, as always, regale everyone with lively tales. His stubborn resolve was well known—David always stood for what he believed in and never hesitated to defend his views.

David’s passion for living extended beyond family and friends. He was an avid motorcycle rider and found great joy in the outdoors, spending hours fishing and hunting. He loved to tinker with anything that had a motor, and his hands-on approach exemplified his practical knowledge and tenacious enthusiasm.

Though deeply missed, David leaves behind a vibrant legacy carried by his loved ones. His children—David Finch Jr. and wife Dorothy, Chadwick Finch, and Mikaela Finch—will forever hold memories of his strength, humor, and boundless energy. His grandchildren—Jacob, Gunner, Kailynn, Oriyana, Emerald, Lila, Angelica, Breanna, and Adrianna—carry forward the lessons and laughter he shared with each of them, as do his great-grandchildren, Ares, Aubree, and Aiden.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Finch; his beloved daughter, Christina Finch; and his sister, Gwendolyn Finch.

A private service to honor David’s life will be held at Cuthand Cemetery, located at 100 CR 1412, Bogota, TX 75417, on July 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
