Billy Wayne Fleming, 73, of Honey Grove passed away peacefully on Friday night, August 23, 2024, at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas after being ill for some time. He was born March 26, 1951 in Wolfe City, TX to Ben Fleming and Ozie Moore Hashaway. He graduated from Wolfe City High School. Billy worked at the Oil Mill in Wolfe City for a number of years. He left there and went to L3 in Greenville where he retired after 28 years in 2016. Billy married his soulmate, Della McFail, on November 20, 1976 in Honey Grove where they lived for 47 years.
Billy joined St. James Baptist Church in Honey Grove in 1985 and was later ordained as a deacon under Rev. David Moore. He also became chairman of the deacon board, a trustee, a choir member and voluntary cleanup crew member. He did all he could for the church. When Rev. Moore retired and our new pastor Rev. Darrell Franklin took over in April 2019, he still was faithful to all his duties until illness came and took over.
Left to cherish his loving memories are: his devoted wife of 47 years Della Fleming, mother-in-law Hazel McFail, sisters: Patricia Herron (Billy) and Elaine Hashaway; brother Michael Hashaway (Nancy); sisters-in-law: Bridget McFail of Honey Grove, Nellie Brown (John) of Wolfe City and Janice Burks of Paris; brothers-in-law: David McFail of Honey Grove, Benny Mcfail (Dinita) of Paris and Johnney McFail (Dale) of Wolfe City. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family that loved him dearly.
