Betty D Cummings

Betty Cummings, 90, of Commerce, passed away at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Lake Pointe of Rowlett early Saturday morning, November 6, 2021, with her family by her side. Betty was born in Commerce, Tx. on July 14, 1931, the daughter of Jack Kelly and Kate Ollie McClendon Kelly. She married John Lewis Cummings on August 17, 1957 in Hugo, Oklahoma. Betty worked for many years as the office manager of Group W Cable in Commerce. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce and the Red Hat Society. Betty has been described as having an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor. She and John spent a lot of their time "hauling kids" around to different events and places, and helping them develop fond memories.

Betty is survived by her three daughters: Carolyn White of Garland, Diann Brown of Garland, and Kellie Brooks of Commerce; grandchildren: Brandi Chambers and husband John of McKinney, Jerad Emery and wife Carla of Commerce, and Matthew Brooks and wife Taylor of Texarkana,Tx. Three great grandchildren also survive her: Ryan Rush, Jaycie Emery, and Jaylynn Emery, as well a sister, Nona Mae Lowe of Olney, Tx. and a brother, Jack Orvle Kelly of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John and sister Lydia Maurine Daniel.

A graveside service for Mrs. Cummings will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ridgeway Cemetery in the Ridgeway community in Hopkins County. Brother Terry Bryan will officiate.
