Joyce Coke

Joyce Ann Coke was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away at age 84 in Bedford on June 14, 2021, due to complications of an illness.

She was born to Walter Earl and Myrtle Virginia (Jones) Coke on September 2, 1936, in Cumby, Texas.  Joyce loved to dance, grow plants and flowers, bake cakes and cookies and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She especially loved watching the Hallmark channel with her little poodle, Sugar Bear, in her lap.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Myrtle Coke of Birthright; her sister Shirley Coke; her sister Billie Jean Hill; her brother Gerald Coke; her son James Buckholt; her grandson James Buckholt, Jr.; and her granddaughters Christy and Nycole Moss.

She is survived by her son J.D. Buckholt, his wife Darlene and their two sons Jeff and Justin of Mesquite, TX; her daughter Marilyn Buckholtz of Yakima, WA, and her two sons Christopher and David Gaston of Paris, TX; her son Joe Buckholt, his wife Katie and their children Michaela and Joey of Yakima, WA; her daughter Tena Buckholtz and her son Jerry Freeman, Jr. of Bedford, TX; Cheryl Buckholt Mansell and her husband Nathaniel Mansell of Grapevine, TX.  She is also survived by her brother, Danny Coke, of Sulphur Springs, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Michael Buckholt (honorary), Jeff Buckholt, Justin Buckholt, Peyton Coke, Rodney Coke, Jerry Freeman, Jr., and Damian York.

A celebration of her is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home in Commerce, Texas.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-3pm.  Burial will follow at the Ridgeway Cemetery off Highway 11 in Ridgeway, Texas.
